Myna requires four permissions to function:
You can grant or revoke these at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
AI summaries require Apple Intelligence to be active. To enable it:
Apple Intelligence requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 15.1 or later, with the device language set to English (US). macOS 26 or later is recommended for the best experience with Myna.
Myna reads your macOS Calendar app. Any calendar account you have added to macOS (Google, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange, etc.) will be accessible once you grant Myna calendar permission.
To add calendar accounts, go to System Settings → Internet Accounts and add your account there. Myna will automatically detect meetings with video call links or multiple attendees.
System audio capture requires the Screen Recording permission. Check that it is granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
After granting the permission, you may need to quit and relaunch Myna for the change to take effect. Some video call apps (like FaceTime) may suppress audio capture for privacy reasons — this is a macOS-level restriction.
Currently, Myna transcribes in English only. Support for additional languages is on our roadmap and will be added in a future update. Follow us or check the App Store release notes for announcements.
Myna requires a minimum of ~200 words of transcript (roughly 2–3 minutes of natural conversation) before enabling summarization. This ensures the AI has enough content to generate a useful, accurate summary.
Keep recording until there's enough content — you'll see the button appear automatically.
Summary errors are usually caused by one of the following:
Tap "Try Again" in the error screen after resolving the issue.
No. Myna has no servers. Your audio is processed in memory and immediately discarded. Transcripts and summaries are stored only in the app's local database on your Mac. Nothing is ever transmitted over the internet.
You can delete individual meetings from the Recents screen by right-clicking the meeting and selecting Delete. To delete all data, simply delete the Myna app from your Mac — all locally stored transcripts and summaries are removed with it.
Send us a message and we'll get back to you within 24 hours, usually sooner.
